The iconic tale of pride, changing times, and the transformative power of friendship.
This touching Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Alfred Uhry, Driving Miss Daisy spans the 25-year relationship between wealthy, strong-willed Southern matron, Daisy Werthan and her staunchly proud, yet soft spoken Black chauffeur, Hoke.
The two, despite their mutual differences, grow ever closer to, and more dependent on, each other. It is only when Hoke is retired and Miss Daisy is confined to a home for the elderly that they both come to realize they have more in common than they ever believed possible—or could ever publicly admit.
From its landmark Off-Broadway production in 1987 to the remarkable success of the Oscar-winning film version with Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman (four Academy Awards, including Best Picture), Driving Miss Daisy has become one of the most timeless and beloved American stories of the late twentieth century.
